This course is a first in academic and professional quality assurance for Steiner Waldorf Education in the UK and offers a unique opportunity for qualified teachers to broaden their career opportunities and to:
• Develop extensive knowledge of Waldorf Education and creative pedagogies to foster both creative teaching and teaching for creativity.
• Learn through a mixture of residential and online sessions, designed to help you apply theory to practice while maintaining work-life balance.
• Graduate with professional accreditation and a portfolio that demonstrates expertise in the Waldorf Teachers’ Standards.
The programme is jointly offered by Bath Spa University and Waldorf Learning Foundation and benefits from a wide range of expertise in both Waldorf Education and creative pedagogies, including: Dr Martyn Rawson, Dr Vel McKeachie, Charlotte Davies and Professor Penny Hay.
The Postgraduate Diploma can be completed within 12-16 months to enable students to develop both academically and professionally, while maintaining a healthy study and work-life balance. This is a low-residency course; the majority of workshops will be held online but there will be several compulsory in-person, experiential workshops (Landcraft Retreats) to develop artistic practice, practical craft and outdoor teaching skills. During their studies, students will create a Professional Practice Portfolio. The portfolio is aligned to the Waldorf Teaching Standards and will ensure that graduates are a fully qualified Waldorf Education professional. This enhances employability by providing a unique set of skills for facilitating creativity in education. The course is in its first year of provision, and attracting students from the UK and beyond, including those working in Waldorf settings and mainstream provision.
